The First Descent refers to the historic expedition in 2145 that first landed humans on Xylos. The mission was commanded by Commander Elena Vance, with Dr. Aris Thorne serving as lead scientist. The ship, the *UNS Pathfinder*, touched down in what is now the capital city of Echo-Point.
During the descent, the crew immediately encountered the Whispering Skies. Two crew members suffered psychological breaks within the first 24 hours due to the relentless noise. It was during this mission that Thorne discovered the first veins of Chronosite, realizing the planet's immense value.
The mission lasted 6 months. Upon return, the crew had aged only 5 months and 2 weeks relative to Earth time, the first evidence of the time dilation effects of the planet. This discrepancy sparked the "Gold Rush" that eventually led to the formation of the Obsidian Council.
The landing gear of the *UNS Pathfinder* is still preserved in the central museum of Echo-Point, encased in Void-Glass.
