Xylos is the fourth planet orbiting the star Helion-Prime within the Ardent Nebula. Discovered in 2145, it is primarily known for its unique geological composition, specifically the abundance of Chronosite within its crust. The planet has a radius of roughly 5,000 km, making it slightly smaller than Earth, yet it possesses a gravity of 1.2g due to the extreme density of its mineral core.
The atmosphere of Xylos is breathable for humans but contains high concentrations of Argon and trace amounts of vaporized silica. This atmospheric makeup interacts with the planet's magnetic field to create the auditory phenomenon known as The Whispering Skies, a constant sonic hum that permeates the environment. Consequently, native life on Xylos has adapted via Resonant Biology rather than photosensitive evolution.
Politically, the planet is governed by the Obsidian Council, which meets in the capital city of Echo-Point. While the southern hemisphere is heavily industrialized for mining, the northern hemisphere remains largely restricted, specifically the quarantined zone known as Sector 4. The planet's economy is entirely dependent on the export of time-dilation minerals to the Core Worlds.
Recent seismic activity suggests that the planet's core is becoming unstable. Geologists from the Aethelgard Institute argue that this is a natural cycle, while independent researchers blame aggressive industrial practices.
